This digital Cedar Planter Box Plans Generator creates a custom build sheet from the dimensions you enter while keeping the same construction style as our original HousePlanLLC cedar planter design.

Choose the finished length, width, height and the height of the planter bottom above the ground. The generator automatically calculates the cedar parts, wall rows, planter bottom, mitered top frame and optimized lumber cutting plan.

The design uses 5/8" × 4" cedar boards throughout the project.

The top P4 frame pieces are cut with 45° miters at both ends, following the original HousePlanLLC planter design.

Depending on the height you choose, the generator may require a partial cedar wall row to be ripped to width. The build sheet will identify this when necessary.

Always verify the actual dimensions of your lumber before cutting. Cedar dimensions may vary slightly by supplier.

For outdoor use, use exterior-rated fasteners and wood glue. Drill appropriate drainage holes in the planter bottom before adding soil.
